Men have a one in 15 chance of getting lung cancer in their lifetime, while women have about a one in 17 chance. Smokers are at a higher risk for lung cancer, though non-smokers certainly can incur it as well. African-Americans have a 15% higher rate of lung cancer in men compared to Caucasian males. However, African-American women have a less incidence of lung cancer compared to Caucasian females.
