Transcript

A herniated disc is a condition that occurs when the soft center or the nucleus of a spinal disc in between the vertebra pushes through a crack in the tougher exterior casing, or the annulus. This herniated disc can cause pain, numbness, or weakness in an arm or leg by irritating the nerve endings around the spinal cord. This herniation can occur anywhere in the spinal column, but most herniated discs are seen in the cervical or the neck region and lumbar or the lower back regions.
