Laminectomy – Recovery Period

September 20, 2021

Transcript

The recovery after laminectomy is dependent on a person’s level of function and activity prior to surgery. Depending on a person’s medical health, a laminectomy is often an outpatient procedure. Meaning, many patients can go home the same day. In some patients, depending on their medical condition, a hospital stay might be needed. After surgery, a patient is allowed to walk immediately and activity in general is discouraged. Bedrest is not recommended after laminectomy.
