Parkinson’s Disease – Surgery

It’s not always a given that surgery will be used to treat your Parkinson’s. If it’s not responding to the standard medications that you are used, you may be a candidate for surgery. Deep brain stimulation involves surgically inserting a device into your chest. This device is connected to electrodes that are implanted into your brain. And between the two of them, the stimulation that they provide can very well help or even stop the movement. In addition to this, and even if the medication controls your Parkinson’s, you may be recommended additional speech, occupational, or physical therapy to complement your treatment.
