Hydroxychloroquine has multiple immune regulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. It controls inflammation in various organs to help reduce the risk of long-term tissue damage. Additionally, it decreases chemical mediators called cytokines, which cause inflammation. Hydroxychloroquine also decreases platelet function, thereby reducing the risk of blood clots. Other positive effects include reducing the cholesterol levels and blood sugars in diabetic patients.
