Transcript

Obviously somebody who needs it, and the person that is donating the heart is first examined. A lot of times they ask us to do an angiogram to make sure that that heart is not diseased, that it doesn’t have blockages of the arteries. We do an ultrasound to make sure that that heart is viable and strong in itself. And then once we match that heart and find it to be a healthy enough heart for transplantation, then we deliver it to the person highest on the transplant list, waiting to get a new heart.
