Convert your vision into positive statements.
Break your vision into small chunks of behaviors you will exhibit if you were living your envisioned future self. Say what you will do instead of not do. For example, instead of saying that I will not get defensive when triggered, say that I will do a quick check with my core value of being open-minded and let that act out. Make a list of those positive active statements. Start small but get to the specifics. Limit it to 3-5 statements; define what those statements mean exactly. Break them down into sub-bullets if needed. Make sure the list is easily accessible to you on daily basis. I publish mine on the Refrigerator.
Imagine it and act as if on a daily basis.
Ask yourself this question. If I were this person in my future vision, what would I be doing on daily basis? Start acting like your future self even if it seems difficult. Embrace ambiguity and learning. Remember that you are building your own story and narrative and it is constantly evolving.
Start small and celebrate small wins
Add checkboxes for what you need to be doing to act as if and check them off as and when you behaved that way. Progress gives us joy and helps us stay committed to the goal.
Schedule feedback sessions with yourself
Embrace failures as learning opportunities. Spend as much time in self-reflection to extract the learnings but not to ruminate. Assess your positive statements periodically to make sure are they still aligned with your values and your future vision.
I leave you with this Quote “When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.”
