Ignazio R. Marino, MD, ScD, is a Professor of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. His name is associated with many firsts in transplant medicine. As a surgeon, he trained under the world pioneers of liver transplantation: Sir Roy Calne in Cambridge (UK) and Dr. Thomas E. Starzl, in Pittsburgh, PA.
