Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) vs Mediastinoscopy
Transcript
One of the advantages of EBUS over mediastinoscopy is because the EBUS scope is going through the mouth and into the airway, it can go out a lot more peripherally.
A mediastinoscopy, you’re really only getting the central compartment, the mediastinum. You can’t go very far to the right or left, but that EBUS scope can go all the way out to those Hilar lymph nodes to sample those areas, sometimes all the way to the lung nodule itself, depending on where it’s located.
