Glioblastomas primarily cause symptoms, both by mass effect and by invasion of surrounding brain structures. For that reason, the tumor size, location, and rate of growth all greatly affect the symptoms that the patient experiences. In general, headache and seizure are the most common presenting symptoms, but glioblastomas can frequently cause motor language, vision, memory, and cognitive dysfunction.
