Cardiogenic shock is common in patients who’ve had a heart attack with 40% or more damage to the heart muscle. Cardiogenic shock is more common in men than it is in women. Cardiogenic shock is higher in Pacific Islanders and Asians. Cardiogenic shock is more common in patients that are 75 years of age or older. And cardiogenic shock is associated with a greater than 50% morbidity and mortality.
