Antibiotics should not be used for the common cold. The common cold is a virus. Antibiotics don’t treat viruses. [They don’t have a] place in the treatment of viruses. Antibiotics are used if you have a bacterial superinfection or complication of the cold. So for an ear infection or sinusitis, yes, there you would use an antibiotic, an appropriate antibiotic that would treat the bacteria that are most likely causing that infection. And we know those full well.
