Egg Freezing: Process

November 29, 2022

Transcript

Once your eggs have been retrieved and harvested, they’re immediately stored in liquid nitrogen tanks to deep freeze, a process called vitrification. The embryology lab will have continuous onsite monitoring for all the equipment and quality control of the temperature in the storage. A certified embryologist oversees all the lab operations along with team members to maintain proper function. When you’re ready to use the eggs, they can be thawed and fertilized with the best sperm using intracytoplasmic sperm injection or ICSI. It’s with your partner’s sperm or donor sperm, or a directed donor. It has been shown to be the most successful way to fertilize a frozen egg.
