One of the more common causes is an infection like sinusitis or a common cold or an allergy attack, or changes in the environment and humidity can cause swelling inside the nose, resulting in nasal congestion, swelling and obstruction. Allergies will often cause the tissue in the nose called the turbinates to become enlarged and cause difficulty in breathing.
