It is really hard to tell whether your neck pain is coming from a pathology that is going to cause you permanent damage or not. Generally speaking, if it’s specifically to the neck and there’s no other referred pain such as going down the shoulders, going down the arms, creating headaches, et Cetera, that should get better on its own, but if it doesn’t within a very short period of time, maybe a few days, then it would be prudent to seek treatment and evaluation from an orthopedic surgeon who is well versed in neck injuries.
