Some women may be offered birth control or antidepressants to help relief of the symptoms of PMS. Birth control works by regulating our ovulation cycle. And in many cases, actually preventing ovulation. With preventing ovulation, this may prevent any woman from having the symptoms of PMS. Even despite that, they can also help with some of the physical symptoms of PMS like cramping. Antidepressants can help with the emotional symptoms that women may experience from PMS, like anxiety and depression. Talk with your doctor to see which options may be best for you. And as always, if you find that you are having severe symptoms, severe anxiety, depression, thoughts of hurting yourself or hurting others, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.
