Preterm Labor – Treatment Options

share

Transcript

Preterm labor is treated in one of several ways by your OBGYN provider or obstetrical provider. Medications may be given to slow down contractions, antibiotics may be given to prevent infection, steroids may be given to improve the baby’s lungs. A physician may decide if you need to be at bed rest or not, or if you need to be out of work or not, or be at home because of the risk of going into labor earlier. You may be in the hospital for a certain period of time to monitor your progress, as well being in a setting where if the baby’s born early, physicians can help take care of the baby that’s born early.
