Rheumatoid arthritis treatment involves medicine called DMARDs, which stands for disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs. This is a crucial step for treating rheumatoid arthritis and they really help to prevent joint damage and progression of the disease. Anti-inflammatories can be used as well, as well as steroids to kind of calm the inflammation down when you first present to the doctor with your symptoms. Now there’s a lot more advanced rheumatoid arthritis medications, which we call synthetic DMARDs and biologic DMARDs.
