So strokes are divided into two different categories. Each type of stroke has a slightly different flavor, if you will, of what goes wrong. In general, a stroke happens when your brain doesn’t get enough oxygen due to lack of blood flow. With an ischemic stroke, the type most likely to happen, that stoppage occurs because of blood clots of plaque buildup. With a hemorrhagic stroke, blood vessels burst in your brain, and the buildup of blood causes damage to the tissue. This is less common type of stroke, but it is one of the causes that causes the most damage.
