If you’re experiencing tinnitus in only one of your ears and you also have asymmetric hearing or other symptoms or complaints, there may be some cases in which an MRI would be performed or recommended by the otologist or otorhinolaryngologist to check for certain underlying medical causes that could be causing the asymmetry in your hearing, as well as your tinnitus. If your hearing in tinnitus are pretty symmetrical, that’s not going to be necessary in most cases.
